Preservation of Taman’s natural riches is one of our company’s key objectives, along with the development of its industrial potential. OTEKO implements a set of organizational and technological measures to reduce the anthropogenic footprint and protect the environment.
At OTEKO terminals, closed transshipment of cargo is ensured: all operations, as far as practicable, are performed indoors, and outdoor cargo handling is minimized.
Independent environmental laboratories of FSBI “Center for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements across the Southern Federal District” — CLATI Krasnodar Region, FSBI “Black Sea-Azov Directorate for Technical Supervision of the Sea” and “Volopas” regularly conduct monitoring of sea water, air and soil at the port of Taman, Taman station and the Volna locality. Based on the results of a multi-year study of the environment, experts have not found any exceedances of MPCs for harmful substances.
OTEKO is an integral part of the social life and fabric of the Taman Peninsula, a major employer and social investor.
Since 2005, OTEKO and the municipalities of the Taman Peninsula are parties to an agreement that regulates the main priorities and amounts of assistance provided annually. The company annually allocates funds for charity, repairs playgrounds and schools, supports healthcare, education, culture, sports, and provides targeted assistance to residents.
Company experts organize open classes, excursions, exhibitions and master classes for Taman schoolchildren, and also implement programs to support talented young people in Taman and Novotamansk rural settlements. They include: grant support for pupils, students and teachers; competitions; vocational guidance for the younger generation; material support for kindergartens and educational institutions
